Getting In
From Kuala Lumpur International Airport
Transport KL – Mersing
The best way to go to Mersing from Kuala Lumpur is by bus. You have to know that the ferry departure to Tioman Island can either be from Mersing or from Tanjung Gemok. You may check both ferry schedules for you to plan what destination fits better in your trip. All buses to Mersing and Tanjung Gemok depart from the TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan), so both if you decide to spend some time in KL or if you are planning to go straight from the airport you must go to the TBS.
1. From the Airport to TBS. Depending if you are travelling from the Terminal 1 (KLIA) or 2 (KLIA2), you will have a different way.
• From KLIA to TBS. There are several ways to go to the TBS from the KLIA1. The first one is by TAXI, but we do not recommended as it would be quite expensive. Other option if you are travelling more than 2 people and prefer to go by car is to take a GRAB, but it is not recommended if you are one person or 2 people. As there are no buses from KLIA to TBS you might need to do a transit to go to the KLIA2. The KLIA and KLIA2 are separated by a 2km distance. It is estimated to take 4 to 10 mins, depending on transport options, to travel between these 2 terminals. Transportation options to travel between these 2 terminals are:
- Free Shuttle Bus – available around the clock, 10 mins bus ride, free for passengers on interconnecting flight
- Inter-Terminal Rail Transfer – 4 mins train ride, RM2.00
- Airport Liner Bus – 10 mins bus ride, RM2.50

From KLIA2 to TBS. There are several ways to go to the TBS from the KLIA2. The first one is by TAXI, but we do not recommended as it would be quite expensive. Other option if you are travelling more than 2 people and prefer to go by car is to take a GRAB, but it is not recommended if you are one person or 2 people. The cheapest way is to take a BUS. Jetbus is the company that offer transfers directly to the TBS. To find out the schedule and prices please visit the following website: http://www.klia2.info/buses/bus-operators/jetbus or http://www.jetbus.com.my/schedule.php. The last option and the fastest one is by TRAIN (KLIA Transit (ERL)). It connects KLIA 1 and 2 to Bandar Tasik Selatan (just next to the TBS) in less than 30 min, but it costs RM38.40.
2. From TBS to Mersing/Tanjung Gemok. The bus fare for bus from KL to Mersing is from RM 32.80 to RM 34.00. TBS is relatively new bus terminal in southern part of Kuala Lumpur. The arrival point is at Mersing Bus Terminal. There are no buses that only go to T. Gemok, so you have to take the bus to Mersing and ask if it can stop at Tanjung Gemok near the Jetty.
